British Columbia Bereavement Helpline

Our helpline is open mon-fri 9am-5pm and we had extended hours wed (5p-8p) and sat (9a-1p) apr-june 2024. Helpline operates with 10-12 volunteers. We host 8-week suicide and homicide grief support groups. We also hosted two in person events with our victims of homicide program one large scale in surrey with community partners also involved. We regular host traumatic loss facilitator trg for those interested in learning how to support those coping with traumatic loss. We provide grief education and training sessions online and in person to communities throughout bc. In fall 2023 we launched a monthly 'drop in' homicide peer support group (in partnership with arbor memorial) in surrey as well as monthly (online) pet loss support group. In 2023 we hosted 11 newly developed online education sessions with the majority being for suicide loss. In 2024 we hosted 8-week toxic drug poisoning support group in kamloops.
