Bridges Social Development

Bridges Social Development continued executing the Unveiling Youth Potential Leadership development approach with Indigenous and BIPOC communities in Calgary and the surrounding area. Our programs focused on in person and online facilitation with youth and community-based partners follow-up mentorship support to youth and young adults with volunteer and staff mentors and hosting online events focused on youth leadership and social entrepreneurship development and sharing their stories and voices with the broader community. We maintained relationships with several program partners including Siksika Employment and Training Siksika Health Stoney Nation Job Resource Center SOS Congo and Nakoda Youth Council. Our annual ‘A Youth Explosion’ was postponed due the ongoing pandemic but we began doing some work towards a return of the event for 2023. We continued the Indigenous Rising Treaty 7 (IRT7) Youth Change Leadership community with an in person retreat for youth leaders from across Treaty 7 and other connecting and leadership events. Bridges Social Development began a new joint venture and partnership with Experience Howl offering a leadership development semester program to youth from across Canada in the Bow Valley Area. Canada Bridges supported fund program and organizational development as well as facilitation and youth project support to the program.
