About Brantford Public Library
Public libraries support literacy and lifelong learning and provide access to information. Public libraries serve all ages from children to seniors. Services include programs and resources specific to the needs of each user group with materials for reading learning and enjoyment. Libraries support art culture education and community development presenting authors and other information sessions of interest to the public. Brantford public librar provides free access to resources in a variety of formats including books e-books audiobooks databases dvds newspapers and magazines large print and multilingual materials makerspace and technology resources and streaming services. In 2024 approximately 45 volunteers contributed to library operations in a variety of roles including assistance with shelving programming and home delivery services. In 2024 the library expanded access to materials in the community by launching its second self-serve book kiosk located in a grocery store in an under-served neighbourhood. Additionally near to that location construction started on a new library branch expected to open in 2026. Several new resources were added to the library's growing collection of non-traditional lendable items in 2024 including fishing kits and a variety of digitization tools. At the library's main branch a new youth space opened that was funded entirely through donations. It features flexible furniture curated book displays activities and a commemorative mural. Donations and fundraising activities support and enhance the wide variety of services we offer.
