Operation of a community recreation facility:the facility continues to host intergenerational recreational and social programs to support the health and wellness of seniors and the community including: recreational programming: groups like thursday spinners oceanside fibre connections line dancing historic arts and art groups provide opportunities for socialization mental stimulation stress relief learning and addressing food insecurity. Food skills programming: programs like bc food skills for families provide food literacy education promoting healthy eating. Bc farmers' market nutrition coupon program: as a partner of the bc association of farmers' markets we distribute coupons to low-income seniors and provide food literacy programming. Volunteering: volunteers contributed over 4000 hours to support programs and events fostering community connections. Polling station: the facility serves as a polling station during elections providing an neutral accessible voting space. Non-profit support: we offer discounted facility rates to other non-profits supporting their community-focused initiatives. Sew easy program: a new sewing program where participants work on individual or group projects with experienced sewers offering guidance. Equipment is provided and we also offer material for beginner projects. Savour and share: a new initiative which offers a select number of weekly topics on food literacy subjects featuring community knowledge-sharing and demonstrations. Garden beds projects: we introduced garden beds planted with dye plants and herbs to engage the community in sustainable gardening.
