About Boots on the Ground Peer Support for First Responders
The organization's mission is to provide confidential caring and compassionate peer support to first responders across the province of ontario. The organization provides a confidential and anonymous peer support helpline to first responders across (including police fire corrections paramedics nurses dispatchers and military) ontario 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Paws on the ground is a supplemental support program offered by the organization that pairs first responders with dogs that will be fully trained to assist in ptsd recovery and provide emotional support. The organization provides a psychologist funding program for those who need additional support as identified by volunteers with out the financial means to do so. The therapy dog program to support first responders after traumatic events occur by providing therapy dogs that respond to the scene or home precinct fire station etc. Where lives have been lost or someone has been critically injured to provide co-workers with an outlet for their grief. 2024 equine therapy - financial support to allow first responders the opportunity to participate in equine-assisted cognitive processing therpay a program aimed at helping facilitate growth and recovery from operational stress impact and injuries.
