About Bees for Babar Society
Bees for Babar Society relieves poverty by supporting bee-keeping in Ghana in order to protect crops from wildlife and advances education by providing training in beekeeping techniques. There were no expenditures in 2024 beyond government administration & website fees. Our website providing technical information on appropriate technology beekeeping remains active at https://beesforbabar.org/publications.htm In 2024 BfB continued discussions with PNI (Partners in Natural Ingredients https://www.naturalpartnership.org) to collaborate in funneling funds to any members of women's beekeeping cooperatives who have outstanding microfinancing loans so they can pay those off. Our plans were to pay the beneficiaries directly to conduct beekeeping chores via mobile-money transfers to the mobile phones of members who have such. Community relations are being renewed with beneficiaries/co-op members one of the major issues flagged was a lack of ownership at the community level—which I understood to mean unclear roles responsibilities and property rights. There's general confusion over who owns which hives and how housekeeping and harvest income are meant to be shared.
