Atira Women'S Resource Society

The society operates 11 housing programs for women and children in the whiterock and surrey areas one in richmond one in burnaby and 18 in vancouver. The society provides support programs for women and children who have witnessed and/or experienced abuse legal advocacy outreach programs for women who are first nations/métis/inuit support to high risk pregnancy and early parenting women outreach to women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and women who are older and who are younger. The society is also involved in the construction and redevelopment of social housing projects in the metro vancouver area. Housing includes: eight transition houses including: five first-stage and three second-stage; three shelters; nine long-term housing programs; two combined shelters and second-stage eight specialized housing programs including: short-term housing program for young women mentorship ousing program end-of-life program shelter for women who are pregnant and early parenting support recovery programs for women housing for women who are criminalized support for women who are first nation métis and inuit. Childcare includes: four childcare centres.
