To honor the memory f the victims of the 1994 genocide against the tutsi in rwanda humura association organizes commemorative activities. We are dedicated to supporting survivors by prioritizing their mental health promoting education for the youth and fighting isolation through community events such as hope day and our annual summer barbecue. In 2023 humura association received a generous grant from the black business initiative (bbi) through the supporting black canadian communities initiative. This vital funding enabled us to launch a transformative project titled 'enhancing community services through audio-visual empowerment.' with this support we invested in high quality audio and video equipment and successfully established a state-of-the-art studio. This studio has become a powerful tool to amplify the voices and stories of our community - especially those of survivors of the 1994 genocide against the tutsi in rwanda as well as the broader black and rwandan diasporas in the ottawa-gatineau region.
