Art metropole (am) operates as the sole division of art-official inc. A not-for-profit corporation incorporated under the laws of the province of ontario. Am pursues a focus on the production dissemination and contextualization of artist-initiated publication in a variety of media especially formats and practices predisposed to sharing and circulation. Am is a member of the canadian museum association (cma) and the art librarians society of north america (arlis/na) as well as the artist-run centres and collectives of ontario (arcco). Am's mission statement is 'to collect document preserve promote and disperse contemporary art in non-traditional multiple media formats information thereon and to carry on all such activities as support these objectives.' the organization realizes this mission by distributing art and publications through its public venue and fairs by hosting talks screenings and performances and producing publications and exhibitions that foster a greater awareness of comtemporary art.
