Archives Lanark

Collect and preserve documents bearing on the political and social history of lanark county and upon its agricultural industrial commercial or financial development. Conduct research and facilitate the exhibition and general dissemination of historical and cultural information. Provide access to the archives holdings and create a database for these holdings. We have 11 volunteers who accumulated a total of 92500 hours of volunteer activity. The publication of all the books on the rural schools of lanark county is completed. The relocation of archives lanark to a larger venue is at this time is still on hold but we continue to explore possibilities and are assisted by the county of lanark in this endeavor. We are now open to the public on one day a week and by appointment on other days. We hold either zoom meetings or hybrid zoom meetings during the year. A fund raising event was held (antiques roadshow type) which was well received and raised approximately $350 after expenses. In april we held our agm with a guest speaker who spoke on the irish famine immigrants. We continue with our digitizing of the local newspapers.
