Amnesty International Canadian Section English Speaking Grou

Ai group 18 participates in letter writing actions re human rights issues and violations around the world. The group works as part of an international ai campaign to support the vulnerable community of lomas del pole o in northern mexico. The group also works on human rights issues in colombia and the indigenous peoples of colombia in particular along with other amnesty groups on the peace community of san jose de apartado. Along with other canadian ai groups a particular emphasis is the huseyin celil file a canadian uyghur jailed by the chinese authorities. The group has established a monthly rota of targeted letters and has members of other ai groups working with us. The format of the actions includes letterwriting petitions and messages of solidarity to the targeted communities and individuals. The group also works with other ai groups and entities in the gta participating in information tables at events such as word on the street amnesty international write4rights and the gta regional meetings.
