Counselling support groups First Link care navigation and other programs that improve quality of life for persons with dementia and their caregivers. Training for professionals and volunteers who care for persons with dementia at home in day programs in retirement homes and long term care facilities. Public education about dementia and brain health through forums workshops publications webinars and e-learning programs. Provide financial support for caregivers and people with dementia for self-determined care priorities. Provide music player with individualized playlists for persons with dementia. Promote research and advocate for dementia friendly communities that respect the dignity of the individual. A new initiative that launched in 2024 offered training for Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in Toronto. This program also provided 18 months of counseling and support for clients of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto (AST) who had recently received a dementia diagnosis. In 2024 the organization launched a new program that offered dementia education in multiple languages reflecting the diverse communities it served. This initiative also involved translating the Dementia 101 content into these various languages.
