The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan empowers people to live well with dementia through our many programs and services. We provide programs and services to people with dementia and their families throughout the province. To expand our reach we offer virtual delivery in addition to in-person delivery in select communities. First Link is a program of the Alzheimer Society that connects persons with dementia and their families to information support services and education as early as possible and throughout the progression of the disease. Clients can access our services through formal referral from physicians and health professionals or by calling the toll-free Dementia Helpline. First Link Coordinators and the Dementia Helpline Coordinators provide individualized service and support and connection to Alzheimer Society programs and services and services that may be available in the community. We offer Learning Series and Evenings of Education to better understand dementia learn coping strategies and discover available community resources and supports. We offer support groups (SG) for people with dementia experiencing the symptoms of dementia. These groups offer the opportunity to connect with others sharing a similar experience. We offer caregiver SGs providing a safe space to share and learn together. Our screened and trained volunteer facilitators are a vital part of our SG delivery. Minds in Motion a community-based fitness and social program for those with early-stage dementia and a partner. The fitness portion is led by a certified fitness instructor with volunteers leading the social and recreation programming. We provide awareness about dementia the warning signs and the benefit of an early diagnosis. We help people to understand ways to lower their risk through our Healthy Brain Program. We are building Dementia Friendly Communities and Dementia Friends to create welcoming communities and businesses that are supportive of people with dementia
