The program includes a formal referral program through which asm works with healthcare professionals and community agencies promoting referral of people with dementia and caregivers to the asm for information support and education. Support groups: people with early symptoms of dementia find support through weekly or bi-weekly meetings. Family caregivers attend monthly groups led by trained facilitators. Minds in motion: provides physical social and cognitive stimulation to people with dementia and their care partners. Family education: opportunities include the 'living with dementia' workshop specialized presentations and the care4u conference. Professional education: health care professionals increase knowledge about caring for people with dementia through the asm's annual conference and workshops. Awareness: staff provides information about the warning signs of dementia and brain health to the public. Community outreach: relationships are built to ensure the needs of manitobans affected by dementia are met. Research: the alzheimer society of manitoba contributes to the alzheimer society of canada's reviewed research program. Dementia-friendly community initiatives: help people with dementia and the family and friends who assist them to feel included and supported in the places where they live work and play.
