About Alzheimer Society of Durham Region
ASDR provides programs and services that support those living with dementia caregivers healthcare professionals and the public. The focus of ASDR programs is on 1:1 support & counselling group support and public education. In addition social/recreational programming is provided that acts to keep persons with dementia engaged in their community. We also host a team of interdisciplinary professionals (OT RPN & Social Workers) that work with local primary care physicians to provide early assessment and diagnosis of dementia. We work in conjunction with community partners to deliver programs that will meet the needs of persons living with dementia in our community. ASDR offers a Young Onset Adult Day program to provide those living with dementia a social experience with individual and group activities along with providing respite for the caregiver. This year we introduced a new half-day recreation program called 'The Social' for people with early to moderate dementia.
