Alternatives to violence project canada (avp-c) is a multicultural organization of volunteers offering experiential empowering workshops. Our fundamental belief is that there is a power for peace and good in everyone and that this power has the ability to transform violence. Te avp-c mission is to empower people to lead non-violent lives through affirmation respect for all community building co-operation and trust. It is our objective to empower people of all ages and genders to manage conflict in nonviolent ways. We are guided by our active commitment to personal transformation and nonviolence. Avp builds on a spiritual base of caring for self and others * avp is a prison program helping inmates to learn new skills and attitudes that can lead to fulfilling and crime-free lives. *avp is a community program offering a new approach for community groups social service agencies youth organizations and all that would like to participate. It is a program for persons of every race religion or national origin. Though founded by the quakers based on their beliefs in an inborn power for peace in everyone it draws participants and trainers from all religions races and walks of life. We continue with new evolving programs in trauma healing workshops; anger management workshops (one area council avp-alberta has developed a partnership with several parole offices to offer these workshops); we also have done workshops in schools and more recently have conducted on-line zoom workshops.
