Work from a patient standpoint to support empower and advocate for those impacted by lymphedema to promote optimal health. Develop and provide free education resources for patients caregivers and medical personnel. Host free online and in-person events called 'Lymphedema Nights' to educate anyone that has or treats lymphedema and the public. Continually update the resources available to the public including our website brochures log books road maps and social media. Raise awareness through attendance at medical events and conferences. Carry out special awareness campaigns for World Lymphedema Day such as requesting proclamations from government and lighting up provincial landmarks. Work as part of a patient advisory group with Alberta Health Services and a national working group with the Canadian Lymphedema Framework and the other provincial associations. Collaborate with physicians to establish protocols for lymphedema and to find a clinic for patients to be diagnosed with lymphedema. We advocate to government on behalf of patients and provide support to others wishing to contact their officials. We have a scholarship program to increase the number of certified lymphedema therapists available in the province of Alberta. Continue to investigate opportunities to make donations to the Calgary Health Foundation to fund improvements to the Calgary Ambulatory Lymphedema Service and the Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service. Aside from our new part-time assistant (see information under NEW PROGRAMS) we remain entirely volunteer-run. Invested in the creation of new education materials and expanded our services to offer these materials to therapists and clinics across the province for their patients and other contacts. Provided complimentary Pathways Canada's Lymphedema Magazine to physicians and hospitals. Advertised via print and video mediums to spread awareness to different audiences.
