Alberta Deaf & Hard of Hearing Society

Deaf & Hear Alberta provides cost effective accommodations for Deaf deafened and hard of hearing citizens of Alberta. We provide American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting (in-person and virtual) ASL training mental health counselling and one-on-one client support. Our education series includes workplace sensitivity hearing loss awareness and job interview training. We offer a full range of assistive listening devices and communication solutions for home and workplace. We provide a Peer-to-Hear mentoring program as a support for those on a hearing loss journey. Our Virtual Remote Interpreting (VRI) On demand is a provincewide service that eliminates communication barriers for Deaf Albertans by providing on-the-spot ASL interpreting. We also have Step Ahead which is a volunteer program to reach out to isolated Deaf and hard of hearing seniors; we provide technology and a cross-generational volunteer to train the senior to connect virtually with family and friends.
