Promoting Resilient Aging in Community - 1. Aging in Community News a biweekly eblast to 2000+individuals and organizations 2. Access to local services promoted on website and blogs 3. Opportunities for social health and educ events promoted and opportunities for volunteering community awards and participating in research 4) Intergenerational contribution through 7 McMaster Univ student volunteers. Sustaining Mutual Support Group 1) 70 individuals on mutual support mailing list 2) Small group events like walking meet-ups writing groups and potluck dinner 3) Members have volunteered for the Intergenerational Memoir Project. Promoting Lifelong Learning and Cooperation with other Organizations 1) we held 44 individual events mostly on Zoom 2) Intergenerational Memoir Project worked with the McMaster University Dept. of Health Aging and Society and McMaster University with 90 senior-student pairs 3) publication of 9 articles in The Journal of Creative Aging and Pax Lumina 4) special event on Mindfulness; Aging Together Writing groups; Celtic Spirituality Meet-ups and discussion groups; presented series with Hamilton Public Library; posted recorded sessions to YouTube; worked with other organizations on events and scholarship publicity: Hamilton Council on Aging Hamilton Public Library McMaster University Dept of Health Aging & Society McMaster Gilbrea Centre for Studies in Aging Alzheimer Society VON. Established the annual Mary Buzzell Scholarship for Resilient Aging in 2024 to be presented to both an undergraduate and graduate student at McMaster University who are studying in the area of resilient aging. We awarded two scholarships in December 2024.
