A Loving Spoonful Meals Society

A loving spoonful is a volunteer driven non partisan society that provides free nutritious meals and nutritional support to those living with hiv/aids and co-existing illness in metro vancouver. Every week all year round our volunteers (using their own vehicles and gas) deliver easy to prepare meals and snack packs to individuals and families who are primarily housebound. Many of the people that we serve have barriers to food security as well as mobility issues. We offer a variety of nutritionally balanced meals including consideration for specialized diets such as: easy to chew pureed renal/kidney-friendly and gluten free. We have a number of programs that include: daily meals program family pantry program prenatal program ensure program and the assisted meals distribution mat (maximally assisted treatment) program. A loving spoonful relies on the generosity of our volunteers to help administer these programs. Last year 5 426 hours were donated the area of packing/delivery of food administration fundraising and executive committees. These hours contribute to thousands of dollars saved in the administration of our programs. It is important to note this amount is not reported in our financial statements.
