WEA Illawarra's purpose is empowerment through learnercentred education and training. Through our programs we aim to build connected and thriving communities of lifelong learners. Through our Special Assistance School, Novo Education Space, and our adult education Community College, we facilitated learning programs and skills training for secondary school age young people through to seniors, who are unable to access or continue education and training in mainstream settings as a result of trauma, mental health disorders, learning difficulties, cognitive, physical and other disabilities, homelessness, domestic and family violence, cultural or linguistic barriers, social isolation, exclusion and other vulnerabilities and experiences of disadvantage. Our Vocational Education and Training programs developed life skills and foundation literacy, numeracy and digital skills in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions of NSW.
