Our Mission, Vision, and Goals Mission To support individuals living with cancer on the Gold Coast and in Northern Rivers. To provide advocacy, education, and a strong community network. To improve access to cancer care, services, and resources. Vision To create a safe and supportive space for individuals impacted by cancer. To ensure access to affordable and highquality services. To empower individuals and families with information and assistance. Goals Provide compassionate and confidential support. Engage the community in cancer awareness and advocacy. Secure adequate funding to expand and sustain our programs. Contribute to cancer research by sharing insights and experiences. Key Activities and Achievements Support Services and Initiatives Care Packs & Headwear: Funded through bake sales and raffles, our care packs are provided to hospitalized members. A collection of 8090 wigs, headscarves, and turbans are available for loan. Handmade Comfort Items: Volunteers craft port cushions, seatbelt cushions, chemo bags, and cold cap headbands. We supply dilator bags to hospitals for patients undergoing pelvic radiation. Specialized Equipment Lending: Members have access to cryotherapy gloves and socks to prevent chemotherapyinduced peripheral neuropathy. Essential mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and crutches, is available to avoid rental fees. Community Engagement and Events Pamper Days: Hosted bimonthly, featuring Look Good Feel Better workshops. Services include hairdressing, nail care, massage, and wellness activities. Annual Expo: Expertled discussions on topics such as mental health, neurotherapy, medicinal cannabis and innovative cancer treatments. The Haven: Opened in August 2024 at 12 Nerang Street, Nerang. Provides free wellness services such as reiki, massage, yoga, counselling and art therapy. Advocacy and Awareness Successfully lobbied for BreastScreen QLD to lower the recommended age for free mammograms from 50 to 40. Actively participate in Consumer Advisory Groups and other advocacy platforms. Engaged in public petitions and lobbying efforts to improve cancer care services. Successfully lobbied for 4 McGrathFoundation breast care nurses at Gold Coast Uni Hospital and Robina Hospital.
