About Wesnet (Women's Services Network) Incorporated
Wesnet is Australia s peak body for Women s domestic and family violence specialist services (i.e. nongovernment organisations managed by women that deliver services to women and / or children who are, or have been, victims of DFV). Its network represents around 360 women s services nationwide, which it works alongside to provide benevolent relief to women and children who are affected by DFV and its consequences. It achieves this through the following activities (among others intended to further its principal purpose): providing material relief to women and children experiencing DFV, intimate partner violence (IPV) and other forms of genderbased violence (GBV); providing educational resources and advice for women and children to increase their safety; providing educational resources, training and information to women s services and other service providers, in order to build the capacity of Women s Services and system responses to enable them to ameliorate the harm and suffering of DFV, IPV and other forms of GBV; working to highlight the structural drivers of DFV, IPV and other forms of GBV, and effective prevention strategies, via advice on policy, legislative and programmatic responses; promoting the participation of people with lived experience to foster improvement of service delivery, and the development of research, debate and education about DFV, IPV and other forms of GBV; promoting and fostering cooperation, collaboration and communication within and between women s services and other service providers supporting women and children experiencing DFV, IPV and other forms of GBV.
