The Walpole Community Resource Centre Inc. (WCRC) plays a vital role in supporting the economic, social, and educational development of the Walpole community and surrounding districts. Over the past year, the Centre has continued to deliver essential services, programs, and community initiatives in line with its mission to build capacity, reduce disadvantage, and foster community connections. Key Achievements Aligned with Our Mission: Supporting Seniors and Reducing Social Isolation WCRC successfully managed Home Care Packages. Meals on Wheels & Community Lunches: Partnering with the Walpole Hotel Motel, WCRC provided weekly community lunches and meal deliveries, ensuring social connection and nutrition for older residents. Tech Support: This initiative empowered seniors to navigate technology, improving digital literacy and reducing social isolation. Education and Workforce Development WCRC supported training and employment through workshops on business skills, IT, governance, and aged care. Traineeship Program: The CRC provided employment and learning opportunities, including a successful IT trainee placement. Community Development & Social Wellbeing Women s Wellness in the Walpole Wilderness (WWWW) program delivered 40 wellness and skillsbuilding sessions, supporting women s health and empowerment. The Centre facilitated youth engagement through sports coaching, school holiday activities, and excursions. Events such as Australia Day, Thank a Volunteer Day, and Blessing of the Fleet brought the community together, fostering civic pride and engagement. Access to Government and Essential Services WCRC continued as a Services Australia Access Point, helping residents with Centrelink, Medicare, Veterans Affairs, and governmentrelated services. The Centre offered video conferencing facilities, connecting rural residents with legal, health, and business support. Economic and Business Support Local businesses benefited from referral services, training workshops, and business development support. The Walpole Weekly, produced by WCRC, provided critical advertising and communication for local businesses and community updates. Through these programs and services, the Walpole Community Resource Centre Inc. has strengthened community resilience, supported local businesses, empowered individuals with education and skills, and enhanced the overall wellbeing of Walpole residents. The Centre remains committed to expanding its impact and continuing to serve as a hub for connection, learning, and support.
