The Victorian National Parks Association is an effective and influential nature conservation organisation. We ve led the creation, oversight and defence of Victoria s natural estate for over 70 years. VNPA advocates for evidencebased policy to safeguard wildlife, habitat and protected areas. We inspire connections with nature through citizen science, activities, community action and education. We are an independent, nonprofit, nongovernment, and membershipbased charity. We re an incorporated association with membership open to all likeminded people. Our Vision: Victoria is a place with a diverse and healthy natural environment protected, respected and enjoyed by all. The purpose of the Association is to strive for the conservation of Victoria s natural heritage, including: Promoting the establishment and appropriate management, in perpetuity of an extensive, fully representative and ecologically healthy system of National Parks and other protected areas; Promoting conservation of indigenous ecosystems and species; Defending natural areas and ecosystems against adverse impacts; Fostering public interest in, enjoyment of, and respect for natural heritage and nature conservation through appropriate community involvement and education; Conducting and promoting scientific research and investigations for the benefit of nature conservation; Cooperating with persons and organisations having similar purposes or like interests. We deliver our vision and purposes through the following programs and activities which protect Victoria s unique natural environment and biodiversity: 1. Parks & Nature Protection programs: the establishment and effective management of national parks and conservation reserves monitoring, and responding to, threats to nature and national parks and reserves strategic advocacy campaigns and policy development 2. Community learning and engagement programs to encourage the community, volunteers and participants to protect, respect and enjoy nature in Victoria including: learning (e.g. Park Watch magazine, website, Wild Families) citizen science (ReefWatch and NatureWatch) bushwalking and outdoor activity programs
