UTS completed four trips to client communities in the APY lands. UTS personnel assisted in the facilitation of funerals and provided pastoral and practical support to grieving families. This provides understanding of the realities experienced by these communities and connection with people in their suffering. UTS personnel continued to connect with Elders and community members on the APY lands, discussing their concerns surrounding health and the rate of death and constant funerals that people are dealing with. From these discussions UTS continues to develop educational materials which are being translated into local language, to empower people to turn this situation around. UTS personnel continue to plan with community leaders working towards an educational intensive Health Retreat to fulfill their aims of building the capacity of community members to prevent health issues and overcome disadvantage.
