U3A Stonnington promotes the concept of active retirement by providing a program of courses and social activities for seniors 55 years and over who reside in the Stonnington municipal area and surrounding suburbs. The program aims to broaden knowledge, promote physical and mental health, minimise social isolation, and provide stimulation that will contribute to wellbeing. U3A Stonnington achieves these aims by providing oneoff presentations, short courses and yearlong groups for seniors no longer working fulltime. Lectures and presentations are provided in person or by a combination of in person and via Zoom. Group classes such as Art, Creative Writing, Bridge and Mah Jong stimulate creativity and mental acuity as well as social relationships. We also have physical activities by way of guided walks and popular exercise classes.
