Toomelah GubuRa Ltd is committed to supporting the wellbeing, resilience, and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in the Toomelah community. Through our programs and community engagement, we have made meaningful progress toward achieving our mission. During the reporting period, our charity delivered culturally grounded programs focused on youth engagement, health and wellbeing, cultural identity, and skill development. These included afterhours activities such as sports, creative arts sessions, and cultural education, all designed to provide a safe, structured, and positive environment for young people aged 12 25. These activities directly supported our main aims by: Reducing youth disengagement and antisocial behaviour through consistent access to supervised programs five nights a week; Promoting cultural pride and identity through traditional art, language, and storytelling workshops; Improving mental and physical wellbeing by encouraging participation in team sports, group discussions, and healthy living activities; Creating pathways for future opportunities by building confidence, life skills, and connections to mentors and support services. By providing these services in a culturally safe and communityled setting, we strengthened trust and relationships between young people, families, and service providers. This directly contributes to our vision of a stronger, safer, and more empowered Toomelah community.
