About The Windmill Trust
The Windmill Trust's purpose is to encourage and support artists and the development of artwork within Australia, by awarding a scholarship to a person who has had a demonstrated long term interest in art and who may be unable to continue their artistic work because of outside pressures including family, drought, migration, geographic distance or other caring or breadwinning responsibilities. The Trustees have determined that the Scholarship should be available to NSW regional artists practising broadly within the field of visual arts. The Scholarship award can be applied for a range of purposes including completing arts studies, exhibiting at regional or other galleries, involvement in art teaching programs and to contribute to the development of the artist's talent in general. The Windmill Trust currently awards a $10,000 scholarship annually to an artist based in Regional NSW based on scholarship guidelines advertised each year. The Scholarship award is currently administered by Regional Arts NSW. The Trust has also furthered its purpose by promoting the work of its scholarship recipients via the Windmill Trust website and through presentation events, including an exhibition in 2017 of scholarship recipients' work to celebrate 20 years of the Windmill Trust. The Trust awarded a $10,000 scholarship in the 2024 financial year.
