The Youth Enterprise Trust (YET) ABN 70 819 002 258 is a Queensland based charity established in 1990 who operate from a 302acre at Tamborine. YET facilitate an evidencebased program for young people who have become disengaged and disconnected a program which addresses the early warning signs rather than engaging at the crisis point. INTENT FOR CHANGE (IFC): THE JOURNEY FOCUSES ON ENVIRONMENT, EDUCATION, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, INCLUDING: ENVIRONMENT: Wilderness adventure therapeutic experiences/rite of passage processes; planting a juvenile tree (sapling) at Woodstock to acknowledge their growth and graduation; adopt core values of helping restore nature via deepening appreciation of Australia s natural environment; increase biodiversity; and create pathways to help wildlife including Koala habitat corridors. EDUCATION: Targeted social, emotional, and personal development to enhance resilience; build, promote, and strengthen relationships; manage emotions; and improve independence and personal responsibility; encourage young people to have a voice that can be amplified to contribute to their community; connection with First Nations elders; education about the land and water and connection to country; and youth mentoring / case management / trauma informed practice. ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Job readiness and nurturing a dream via entrepreneurship; raising selfesteem, selfreliance, and work motivation; farm experience to directly promote employment / further vocational study; completion of Certificate ll in Hospitality; and crystallise future opportunities for young people to gain decent entrylevel employment contributing to the wellbeing and sustainability of the broader community. 150 IFC participants have graduated over the last 18 months with a 96% success rate, gaining employment (74%) and/or returning to education (22%). NOFFS is Australia s largest provider of drug treatment and crime prevention services for young people. YET have partnered with NOFFS to extend upon their highly successful street university program and valueadd to this service by offering a bush university music studio within our IFC youth space. Further supplementing the IFC program, YET have partnered with Emu Gully who will deliver their world class adventurebased educational camp. YET and Education Qld opened a flexischool at Woodstock under a Tier III Intervention Program model to reengage atrisk Year 79 students into the school system, targeting students at risk of longterm suspension, exclusion or involvement with the Youth Justice system.
