About The Trustee For Women For Women In Africa Foundation
Women for Women in Africa (WFWIA) raises funds from its base in Victoria, Australia to be sent to its incountry partners Wanawake kwa Wanawake (WkW) and Women for Women in Kenya (WFWIK) which are Kenyan registered charities. The funds raised are used to assist the people living in Kibera slum, Nairobi, Kenya with the education of children from primary, secondary and tertiary schools, short courses for secondary school graduates, a women s group where new skills are learnt, health and food support to our stakeholders in Kibera and the administration of the Community Centre run by WkW. WFWIA raises funds by conducting social functions, holding meetings with community and schoolbased organisations, newsletters, website and social media, supporters, donors and education sponsorship donations. WFWIA has a Community Centre near Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya run by WkW. From there, WkW administers the mutual programs of WFWIA and WkW. At the Community Centre, there is also provision for teaching adults, mainly women, new skills that empower them to successfully manage small businesses. The community centre is a safe refuge for many which takes the people of Kibera away from the dangers found in Kibera during the day. Members of the board and committees of WFWIA visit Nairobi to monitor the workings of the community centre and the overall impact of all work done for the people of Kibera. WFWIK operates Salama House a safe house for at risk girls living in Kibera. WFWIK also operates Otiende House purchased early 2023 a safe house for at risk boys living in Kibera, and a women's training centre. Donations raised by the activities of WFWIA are transferred to WkW and WFWIK in Kenya for distribution for our mutually agreed activities.
