The Harold Mitchell Foundation Fund works with organisations that want to make a difference in Australia and the region. The Fund is increasingly focused on four key areas: health, with a focus on mental health and disadvantage, as well as medical research; education, with a focus on building the next generation of Australian leaders; arts, with a focus on big ideas that place Australia on the world map; and our region, with a focus on Australia s leadership role. One of the Fund s key ongoing projects include the health travel fellowships, which enable promising young medical scientists to travel overseas to participate in seminal conferences, and receive mentoring and support from leading medical specialists. They will bring this experience back to Australia to begin a lifetime of collaboration. Another focus of the Foundation is the community grants scheme, which aims to help people help each other, making a big difference in our community. The scheme most recently had a focus on projects that build community connection, resilience, and/or respond to the needs and hardships faced by the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
