One of the main objects of the The RSL foundation is to promote understanding, peace and goodwill amongst mankind within Australian and internationally, including through exchange programs, awards, remembrance activities and other means. By providing grants annually for scholarships for Cretan students to undertake tertiary studies in Greece, and to assist in charitable work through the Bishop of Spili's Fund, this Fund continues to represent the close ties between the Hellenic and Australian people and the gratitude of the 6th Division soldiers for the sacrifices made by Cretans on their behalf during World War II.
