About The Trustee For Geelong Community Open Fund

The Geelong Community Foundation was established in 2000. Over the last 23 years, it has been making a positive and lasting difference in the Geelong region by facilitating the giving and investing in people and solutions to strengthen communities. The Foundation believe in the power of philanthropy to deliver long term sustainable change. We empower individuals, families and organisations who want to make a difference, giving them a vehicle to develop a Named Sub Fund and a legacy for the future. Donations are wisely invested and retained, in perpetuity, through the donors Named Sub Fund. The income generated from the Fund is used to meet the needs of our community through our annual grants programs. The Foundation is delighted to fund a very diverse range of community organisations through its impact spanning across our four grant steams inluding; Food & Emergency Support, Health, Resilience & Connection, Education & Employment and Environment & Sustainability. At the 2024 Annual Grants Reception & Expo in June, the Foundation announced a total of 57 grants totalling $1,428,885. Included in the total was $118,000 of $50 Target Vouchers were provided to support the Back To School program, distributing them to disadvantaged students in the local schools. A $10,000 grant was also provided to the Gordon TAFE to support students experiencing financial disadvantage with scholarships. The Foundation has grown to over 228 Named Sub Funds in 20232024 and has awarded over $15m in grants to local community organisations since 2000. We sincerely acknowledge and thank all individuals and organisations who have chosen be our partner in philanthropy. The Named Sub Funds created in our donor s names, become a permanent legacy that will be celebrated for generations to come.
