The Karuna Foundation Childrens FundRegistered

Our mission is to provide support or relief in the form of material help, food, education, accommodation and alleviation of loneliness to young people in Australia with special needs and to persons in Australia who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, deprived or distressed. We have continued to maintain the Karuna Sanctuary in the Blue Mountains and have provided day stay and overnight programs for children and families during which we hired a private bus and transported them to the Karuna Sanctuary. In our sanctuary environment, we provided enjoyable low risk activities intended to nurture resilience, selfconfidence and social skills. In May 2024 we held a Tibetan Children's camp providing a bus trip to horseriding at Central Glen Kanimbla Valley in the Blue Mountains. Father's of the children were invited to join and shared delicious Tibetan dumplings with the attendees and volunteers for the camp. In 2024 we connected with the Ukrainian community residing in Sydney as refugees, offering the support of our charity and planning activities to be held in 2025. Working bee days have continued to be held at the Karuna Sanctuary, and volunteers of all ages have the opportunity to stay free of charge at the Sanctuary and participate in light gardening, fire hazard reduction, and food preparation in the fresh mountain air.
