About The Joseph Varga School
The principal activity of the Joseph Varga School is to provide specialised educational services to children at risk in the community as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Focus School (ASD). Our Shortterm objective is to continue as a nongovernment special education school catering specifically for students with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Our longterm objectives are to provide support to autism spectrum disorder students so that they can be active participants in society and be sustainable and strive for continuous improvement in the effectiveness of the entity so as to offer the most appropriate outcomes and best practices. Our strategies to achieve these outcomes are to provide curriculum that provides for the academic, emotional, social and creative development of each individual child and to establish a nurturing and accepting environment which promotes the dignity, selfesteem and resilience of each child. We also aim to ensure that each child acquires the necessary skills to be mainstreamed and to attract and retain quality staff who are committed to developing their skills as well as working with children who have an autism spectrum disorder. We continue to facilitate partnerships with a range of community stakeholders, so as to implement services that can accommodate students who have an autism spectrum disorder and to attract and retain staff who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to keep abreast of new initiatives and innovations in the field of special education.
