Through its activities, the Foundation intends to assist communities in developing countries by: (a) improving living conditions; (b) improving health and life expectancy; (c) promoting gender balance and counteracting inequalities that women and children face in these communities; (d) increasing levels of education and employability; (e) promoting social integration; (f) promoting affordable and sustainable longterm housing that is not dependent on the State; and (g) promoting increased business and financial literacy. 2.4 It is intended that the Foundation (and its subsidiaries) will primarily achieve these objectives through: (a) building and implementation of major capital works; (b) providing infrastructure development support (e.g. hospitals, schools etc.); (c) facilitating water sanitation and hygiene based projects (known as: W.A.S.H programs); (d) promoting agriculture and food security; (e) providing low interest micro business loans; (f) providing disaster relief; (g) improving standards of education (particularly in relation to women); and (h) working to improve local medical and healthcare systems.
