The Canberra Sikh Association (CSA) is dedicated to promoting the spiritual, cultural, educational, and social welfare of the Sikh community in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding regions. Our work throughout the year has directly contributed to achieving this mission through a variety of religious, community, and educational activities. 1. Spiritual and Religious Services: CSA continued to provide regular prayer services, kirtan programs, and spiritual guidance at Gurdwara Sahib Canberra. Major Sikh festivals such as Vaisakhi, Gurpurabs, and Nagar Kirtan were organised with strong community participation. These programs strengthen Sikh identity, preserve religious traditions, and foster a sense of belonging within the community. 2. Community Engagement and Support: The Association hosted weekly langar (community kitchen) and contributed to broader community welfare by providing meals and support to those in need. In times of crisis, such as bushfires or the COVID19 pandemic, CSA actively supported the wider community through volunteer initiatives, food relief, and collaboration with local organisations. 3. Education and Youth Development: CSA ran Punjabi language classes and Gurmat education programs for children and youth, helping to preserve language and cultural heritage. Special youth diwan programs were introduced to engage younger members in leadership roles and promote spiritual and moral development. 4. Cultural and Social Harmony: By hosting open days, multicultural events, and engaging with local government and interfaith networks, CSA fostered greater understanding and respect between the Sikh community and the broader Australian society. These efforts support community cohesion and social inclusion. 5. Infrastructure and Organisational Growth: The Association made significant progress in the planning and construction of a new Gurdwara Sahib building to accommodate the growing needs of the Sangat. This development reflects CSA s longterm vision and commitment to serving future generations. Through these initiatives, the Canberra Sikh Association remains firmly committed to its founding values of seva (selfless service), simran (spiritual remembrance), and sangat (community fellowship), while playing a constructive role in both the Sikh and wider Australian communities.
