Through the work of local partners, Tearfund Australia is able to provide longterm sustainable development in poor communities around the world. Often this work is in difficult and challenging environments where people are facing the most extreme aspects of poverty and injustice. Tearfund supports projects that meet the particular needs of these communities such as food security, water and sanitation, basic health and education, and disaster relief and recovery. In the past year, Tearfund responded to the needs of communities who have endured significant challenges including flooding in Somalia, hunger in Yemen, and internally displaced people fleeing areas of conflict in Sudan and Myanmar.
