In 2023/24 Tackling Leukaemia Inc continued with its mission to recruit as many people as possible within our target cohorts onto the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ADMDR) now know as Stem Cell Donors Australia. Major activities again included the Tackling Leukaemia 10's Rugby Competition as well as visiting a number of Rugby Clubs in Victoria and has now expanded its reach into the AFL. In addition, Tackling Leukaemia was well represented at a number of Pasifika Festivals and celebrations such as Samoan Independence Day, the M ori Good Juju Festival and the celebration of Fijian Independence. Tackling Leukaemia was also represented at the Men s Health Ball as well as at the Government House Open Day as guests of His Excellency General David Hurley AC, CVO, DSC (Retd) our Patron and Mrs Linda Hurley. Our recruitment efforts have again been successful with a significant increase in the organisation s membership and almost 200 additional potential stem cell donors recruited at our swabbing events. In addition, during 2024 Tackling Leukaemia became a fully accredited Recruitment Partner of ABMDR and a Partner to the Australian Cancer Plan.
