We operate a small animal rescue primarily rescuing dogs and cats. We take dogs and cats from pounds, other animal welfare agencies, and private surrenders and tend to their medical and behavioural needs including desexing. The animals are placed in foster care with our approved foster carers whilst they await their secondchance home We rescued 97 animals in the last 12 months (1 July 24 to 30 June 25) being Office of Local Government reporting period with 76 of these animals having been rehomed during the reporting period. 2 were euthanised during the reporting period due to medical reasons a decision which was made in consultation with our veterinary. Of the remaining 19, 12 have been rehomed, one has been euthanised due to medical reasons, made in consultation with a specialist veterinary team, and there are 6 still in foster care who are listed for adoption. We have also worked with members of the public with assisted rehomes always ensuring that the animal is desexed and all necessary vet work carried out prior to the animal being placed in the new home. We also continue to undertake necessary vet work and a large number of our animals have required major surgeries and these animals have gone on to find loving homes of their own. We continue to seek advice and work with animals with behavioral issues and continue to be successful in rehabilitating animals in the past 12 months who have also gone to new homes of their own. We have continued to work with council pounds/animal shelters across NSW and other welfare agencies with animals unable to be adopted directly from them as a result of medical or behavioral issues and continue to be contacted for assistance with rescue only animals. We continue to advocate for desexing, the welfare of all animals, and rescue in general in our community attending various events throughout the year. In September 2024 we allocated $10,000 from general donations for a desexing program targeting undesexed large breed female dogs in rural areas. A total of 30 large breed female dogs have been desexed as at 31st August, 2025. We have focused this desexing program in two rural areas Orange and Griffith. The program was commenced in November of 24 in Griffith where an amount of $5,000 was allocated to the program and this enabled the desexing of 21 female large breed dogs. We identified Griffith as the other area that would benefit greatly from the remaining $5,000. Griffith is the area which has the highest rate of dog attacks in NSW. The Friends of Griffith pound are an extremely proactive group of volunteers assisting the pound and we liaised with them and council to commence our large breed female desexing program and allocated the remaining $5,000 to this area. 9 dogs to date have been desexed in Griffith, with an amount of $2,075 left to continue this program until the $5,000 is fully expended which we expect to be within the next few months. .
