The objectives of our Association are to: promote the teachings of Lord Buddha, engage in, and facilitate Theravada Buddhist activities, foster interreligious harmony, engage in charitable and welfare activities as appropriate. We conducted our Saturday Buddhism and Sinhala Language school for the children of the Canberra Sri Lankan Community based on a standard curriculum. We organised annual cultural and religious events such as Sri Lankan New Year Festival on 7th April 2024 and Commemoration of Vesak on Saturday, 25 May 2024, at the Nicholls Temple premises, No. 54, Kelleway Avenue, Nicholls, ACT. We organised monthly food fairs and special Sri Lankan Festivals in 2024 to raise funds for the construction of our Buddhist Temple in Nicholls, Gungahlin thus providing an opportunity to the public to practice Buddhism and taste authentic Sri Lankan food. The objective of this events is to showcase the Sri Lankan cultural activities and heritage and provide the adults and children in the ACT community with the opportunity to participate, meet their friends and relatives, mix with other communities to make new friends and enjoy and taste of traditional Sri Lankan Food.
