During 2024, Squid Inc Theatre grew its activities and its community profile and continued with its objectives and purpose of the production, performance, encouragement and appreciation of theatre in North West Tasmania. Main activities were as follows: RADIO: Saturday Radio Theatre season 1. Coast FM community radio. The Doll Trilogy of plays by Ray Lawler; 3 full length plays serialised over 8 weeks. Including Summer of the 17th Doll. Saturday Radio Theatre season 2. Coast FM community radio. Local Playwrights on Air; Plays by 5 North West Tasmanian writers, including the 2part serialisation of The Road That Cuts The Rivers by Ross Hay. ON STAGE: The Appleton Ladies Potato Race by Melanie Tait; West Park Playhouse Burnie. 4 performances The Big Snooze by Bruce Kane; script in hand stage play. Coast FM community radio. Recorded for radio in front of a live audience. 2 performances. This play will be produced for broadcast in 2025. Our community profile was strengthened as well last year with several of the participants in Live Well Tasmania s Social Activation Project working with us during The Big Snooze. We see such connections as vital to the growth of our community and of our company and trust that SQUID will continue to look for ways that we can contribute to the wider community in the future.
