We undertook scientific research to find scientists and research teams (within Australia and globally) who have the skills and capacity to work on the SLC6A1 DEE. We were successful in engaging teams specialising in genetic based therapeutics and teams interested in testing available compounds as potential therapeutics on animal models and human organoids. We created the foundations of a local Australian SLC6A1 Kids community network to enable connection and support for families. We started engaging with Australia's largest epilepsy focused institutions to foster collaboration in our mission to support those suffering with epilepsy. We created a knowledge center for SLC6A1 (slc6a1kids.org) to help educate local affected individuals, families, medical professionals, scientists/researchers, and the general public.
