About Skill Centred Queensland Inc
The organisation was formed to provide assistance to unemployed persons to find gainful employment with particular focus on the extreme unemployment needs evidenced in rural Australia. In rural Australia, unemployment levels exceed the national average with many parts suffering further hardship & distress as a consequence of drought & flooding conditions & poor associated farming sector output. SkillCentred offers programs that have benevolent ideals & provide nondiscriminatory relief from distress & suffering for person in necessitous circumstances. Although some programs require participants to meet certain requirements in order to attract Government funding for assistance provided, SkillCentred does not refuse assistance to any person requiring it. SkillCentred objectives provide guidance as to the manner in which the organisation goes about fulfilling the principal purpose of providing long term unemployed, disadvantage youth & Indigenous people with the necessary skills to obtain employment in the workforce. Programs & activities are centred on training, employment & the provision of wraparound support services. The predominant focus is to assist the long term unemployed, disadvantage youth & Indigenous people. Participants are referred to programs & organisations presence in various centres attracts people seeking assistance without referral and services are made available to all participants. SkillCentred specifically supports the community of Cherbourg (one of Qld s most disadvantage Indigenous communities) & operates a number of Community Support Hubs that offer support to other volunteer organisations. SkillCentred has over 30 volunteers who undertake a range of community support activities within the regions we operate.
