About Skate Ability Limited
Skate Ability provided supported disability sports services to people with disabilities throughout 2023 to 2024. We provided equipment, volunteers and coaches to assist people with disabilities to safely engage in iceskating activities at a number of different locations. This support helped to increase community participation, reduce social isolation, increase physical activity & social connectiveness for people with disabilities improving wellbeing and mental health outcomes. Skate Ability organised free iceskating events for people with disabilities to safely engage in iceskating activities with support. These included several Come & Try Inclusive Skating days (including events at the Liverpool Catholic Club, Ice Zoo Alexandria and Blue Mountains Ice Rink), a Celebration of International day of People with Disabilities event at Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink, and sessions for school students with disabilities at the Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink. Skate Ability supported weekly inclusive skating sessions offered by the Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink via the provision of volunteers and session facilitation. Skate Ability prepared and delivered specialised inclusive sports training every term to coaches and volunteers to ensure that knowledge and skills are improved for all who support people with disabilities at our sessions.
