The tenets of Sikhism preach universal brotherhood, equality, justice and freedom for all individuals cutting across all barriers. The congregations held every week are attended by families, young and old and is open for people of all faiths or religion. Thus it helps the Australian Sikhs and community at large to live in harmony and to strive to have a meaningful life. The donors, volunteers and attendees engage in both spiritual and temporal learning and make use of the common resources available for the benefits of the society. The society has also introduced in recent years a free food for homeless and breakfast programs for disadvantaged school children who come to school on empty stomachs. Started by Gurdwara Sahib in Tarneit which has been extended to more than 13 schools across the north western Melbourne region
