About Shalimar Australia Inc.
During the last 12month reporting period, our charity has made significant strides toward achieving its mission of improving mental health outcomes for Aboriginal people in Western Australia. Although some of our planned programs are in the development phase, our focus on community engagement, collaboration with Aboriginal Corporations, and the strengthening of relationships with key stakeholders has laid a strong foundation for future impact. 1. Community Engagement and Relationship Building: We dedicated a significant portion of our efforts to building meaningful relationships with Aboriginal Elders, community leaders, and local communities. These efforts have provided valuable insights into the unique mental health challenges faced by Aboriginal people in Western Australia and have fostered trust and mutual respect, essential for the success of future programs. 2. Collaboration with Aboriginal Corporations: We have actively partnered with Aboriginal Corporations (ACCOs) to write joint grant applications aimed at securing funding for mental health initiatives. This collaboration has been crucial in aligning our mission with communitydriven priorities, ensuring that our programs are culturally appropriate and effectively address the needs of Aboriginal communities. 3. Program Development: Over the past year, we have focused on the design and development of mental health programs tailored to the Aboriginal community. This has occurred in collaboration with Nowanup Aboriginal Corporation. While these programs have not yet been delivered, we have made significant progress in defining the program content, outcomes, and delivery methods, ensuring that they are culturally safe and relevant. 4. Grant Writing and Fundraising: Our charity has worked diligently to secure additional funding by writing and submitting grants, which we hope will support the implementation of our programs in the coming year. Although we have not yet received substantial funding, these efforts have positioned us for growth and increased program delivery in the future. Overall, while direct program delivery has not yet commenced, our charity's activities over the last 12 months have been focused on laying the groundwork for impactful mental health initiatives for Aboriginal people in Western Australia. Through relationshipbuilding, collaboration, and program development, we are poised to make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve in the coming year.
