About Seniors Rights Service

Seniors Rights Service is a notforprofit community organisation that has been championing the rights of older people for over 38 years. Our mission is to empower older individuals to assert their rights through accessible legal services, aged care advocacy and information services across New South Wales. We are committed to raising awareness and empowering older individuals to activate, uphold, extend, and defend their rights. We strive to foster communities that respect and value seniors and their rights. Seniors Rights Service supports older people in knowing their rights and being empowered to assert them. Our free specialist legal services cover a wide range of issues, including human rights, planning for the future, consumer rights and accommodation matters. Additionally, our aged care advocacy addresses the needs of those receiving Commonwealthfunded aged care services at home and in residential care. In all our endeavours, Seniors Rights Service adheres to principles that empower older people as rights holders, provide highquality and timely services, ensure equitable access for seniors, support staff capacity development, collaborate with other organisations, and work with civil society to foster respect for older individuals and their rights. We prioritise engagement with older people who are: disadvantaged and vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer or other living in regional, rural and remote locations. Through information sessions, forums and tailored advice, we continue to serve the diverse needs of our community, striving for a society where older individuals are respected, valued and empowered.
