About Sea Heritage Foundation Pty Limited
We develop and operate the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service Museum, which primarily consists of the lighthouse tender vessel 'MV Cape Don' (built 1962) , moored at Balls Head, WAVERTON NSW and associated artefacts. We provide opportunities for volunteers to work on restoration of the vessel and provide tours for the public ('Bridge to Bilge'), with continual development to enhance the visitor experience. In this way, we preserve Australia's maritime heritage and honour the service of the people of the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service and their families who played a vital part in ensuring the safety of shipping around the Australian coast and related duties. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Cammeraygal people. We also provide a training platform as part of indigenous seafarer training, in association with TAFENSW, and Kings Trust Australia.
